US servicemen reported seeing a UFO in Rendlesham Forest, Suffolk, just outside their base, a scene mocked up for a documentary movie the Rendlesham UFO Incident,  forty years ago.

On May 17th, the U.S. House of Representatives Anti-Terrorism Intelligence Committee held a hearing at the Federal Capitol in Washington, DC, and announced that Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) were real. UAP is a term used by the United States for of UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects). The hearing was attended by Deputy Secretary of Defense, Ronald Maltrey and Deputy Director of Naval Intelligence, Scott Bray.

It is the first time that the US Congress has held a hearing on unidentified aircraft or flight phenomenon since the U.S. Air Force completed a “Blue Book Project” in 1970 that examined the impact of UFOs on national security.

At the hearing, two videos of UAP, for which security were lifted this time, were released for the first time. One was a triangular object glittering in the sky and the other, a glittering round object passing through the cockpit window of a U.S. Navy aircraft. Analysts said the second image was an unmanned aerial vehicle system in the area, and the object in the first image could not be identified.

Scott Bray, Deputy Director of Naval Intelligence, said, “As a result of the new Task Force (TF) investigation, the number of UAP cases has increased to 400.” In June last year, the Defense Ministry and other intelligence agencies submitted UAP analysis reports to the US Congress. Of the 144 cases observed in military aircraft over the 17 years since 2004, 143 were classified as UAP and one was identified as balloons.

In addition, Bray said, “There is no material evidence within the TF to suggest that UAP have a non-global origin,” adding, “The U.S. military has never attempted to communicate with UAP and has never detected a communication signal from them.”

Chairman Andre Carlson said, “The UAP have not been identified, but they exist. Unidentified Aerial Phenomena are a potential national security threat and they need to be treated that way,” adding that they need to be investigated and mitigated many of the threats they pose. He also repeatedly urged the government to deal more seriously with UAP.
