Hypertube, a new mode of transportation

The Hypertube (a Korean model of the Hyperloop suggested by Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and Space X) development project, which is called the dream transportation method, is reportedly in full swing. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) said it would push for a public contest to select a test bed site for the development of Hypertube technology which will be used as a high-speed transportation. Local governments across the country can apply for the public contest. A spokesperson of the MOLIT explained that it has been pursuing research and development cooperation with the Ministry of Science and ICT to develop core technologies necessary for high-speed driving. This include creating sub-vacuum environment in testbeds. Since this cutting-edge technology is currently being studied only in the United States and Japan, if they succeed in developing it, it is also expected that South Korea can occupy the global market.

 

Hypertubes can allegedly run at the speed of more than 1,000 kilometers per hour. It is faster than international flights and more than three times faster than KTX trains with a maximum speed of 330 kilometers per hour. If Hypertube is commercialized, it will take 20 minutes to get to Busan from Seoul. It currently takes more than two hours to get there by KTX. There is no noise because it is in a vacuum, and it is eco-friendly, using electricity. It is not affected by the weather like an airplane.

 

Hypertube is a transportation system that propels and floats a vehicle by magnetic force in a vacuum tube without air resistance. Its driving principle is that a magnet is attached to the bottom of the tube and the rail of the train, pushing the same pole, and pulling the other pole, and the magnetic levitation train moving forward quickly into a vacuum tunnel.
